How hard are they to keep?
We would class this fish as an easy care level. They are popular among novice aquarist due to their bright blue colour and they are easy to keep and breed.

Where are they from?
The Blue Gourami originates from Burma,Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. A sub species of the blue gourami is the Trichocaster Sumatunus, the Opaline Gourami, which has more dark mottled wavy lines and there is also a gold variation. As with other gourami it can breath in air through it’s labyrinth organ.
What do you feed them?
They are omnivores and will eat a variety of foods. Feed a varied diet of frozen, freeze dried and flake foods.
How easy are they to breed?
It is not easy to sex young fish but as they mature males develop a longer pointed dorsal fin whereas the females dorsal fin remains round. Gouramis build bubble nests at the surface incorporating any pieces of plant available. Blue, Opaline,Gold, Moonlight and Pearl Gouramis can produce as many as 2000 fry. Feed fry on infusoria.
